Song |
These Boots (also known as These Boots Are Made for Walking) is the fourth track from Megadeth's debut album Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good! and the eight and last track from the remastered version.
About[]
Originally released by Nancy Sinatra on December 1965 as a single for her upcoming album Boots, Megadeth released their version on their debut album as a joke/parody with Mustaine altering the lyrics to make them more aggressive than the original version.
The original writer, Lee Hazlewood, even though he had received royalties from 1985 to 1995, suddenly had issues with the adjustments made and got Mustaine in legal trouble, causing the song to be absent in the prints from 1995 to 2002. That year, a censored version was released on the remastered album.[1]
Live[]
- "These Boots" was first performed live on October 24, 1984, in San Pedro, California.
Trivia[]
Megadeth recorded three versions of it:
- the fourth track on Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good!
- a version on the soundtrack of the film Dudes
- The band reportedly recorded the second version because they were unhappy with the sound quality of the first version.
- the eighth track from the 2018 remastered "The Final Kill".
- In this new iteration of the song Mustaine recorded the vocals now featuring Hazlewood's original lyrics.
